Who, What and Why

This Hakka WWW site was initiated by and for the Taiwanese Hakka Association of USA (TW_HAKKA_USA) and its members. It is a place for TW_HAKKA_USA memebers to share and retrieve TW_HAKKA_USA organization related information, as well as all other Hakka related information around the world. Memebers would treat it like a BBS (Bulltin Board System), so members shall expect to see organization news, activity notices, etc. in the future. Many members have left Taiwan and their Hakka families and friends for a long time, so this site, hopefully, will reduce their home-sickness (and therefore Hakka-sickness).

This is also a place to store and preserve documents and articles from TW_HAKKA_USA and its members. However, we do intend to collect all other Hakka information which are generated in the USA as well.

It is intended to focus on the relationship of Hakka and Taiwan, so this is yet another place to collect, link and present Taiwan\'s Hakka materials, and relevant research and development results and efforts. It serves as a pointer, for people all over the world, to look into Taiwan\'s Hakka culture for comparison purpose. (A positive side effect is that we can reduce network traffic from USA to Taiwan.)

This home page so far has no intention to censor any Hakka ralated materials. And therefore we do not promote or demote any political issues. All links and pointers are opinions of their own. Remember, Hakka culture and Hakka people are the ones that count when surfing around.

As you can tell, this site is under heavy construction. Basic stuff such as TW_HAKKA_USA organization information is still missing. While we are working on it, we welcome suggestions and ideas. Please send e-mail to hakka@softidea.com

Please bookmark and use the new web site URL address. A dedicated domain name has been established.
The Fifth Bi-Annual Taiwanese Hakka Association Conference, September 6 - 9, 2001.
Conference will be held in Hsin-Chu, Taiwan. A variety of culture topics related to the Hakka will be discussed. There will be visit of the Yi-Ming Temple for its annual celebration and other Hakka heritage villages and landmarks. Several tour packages have been arranged as an extention of conference. Hakka Monthly magazine subscription
Hakka Monthly (Hakka Magazine) is a very good magazine for Hakka information. One year subscription is US$95. It will send to you by airmail every month. Please subscribe to keep yourself informed and to support Hakka publication circulation. In order to decrease the administration fee for personal checks, Dr. Albert Chu volunteers to help to collect small checks of individual subscription fee with one single check of larger amount (p.s. bank fee is the same regardless the check amount) sending to Hakka Monthly in Taiwan. 2000 PAM-AM Taiwanese Hakka Culture Conference
From August 10-17, 2000, the PAM-AM Taiwanese Hakka Culture Conference was held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. There were total of 24 Hakka Associations from Canada, USA, Latin America and Asia sponsoring this event. Many great programs and tours were presented.
