<title>
Hakka Chinese are no longer Ha!

<font size=+1><b>客家人(客籍人)不应再是"客"! 我们才是黄帝的嫡系后裔!<br>
Hakka Chinese
should no longer be Ha (guests)!</b> <font size=+0> We are lineal descendants
of <i>Huang Di</i> (黄帝, or <i>Fong Ti</i> in Hakka). Thousands of years ago, o
great fathers migrated to the south from the Yellow River (Huanghe) Valley
around the capital Chang-An (长安, or Zhongyuan, Chungyuen (中原), Central
China) to
seek asylums and have been called "guests" (Ha) since then by the local
inhabitants. It is  now well known that almost all the people of
<i>Han</i> nationality (大汉民族)  have
migrated southward because of the chaos of war since the period of the
Northern and Southern Dynasties (南北朝). Those heros, who are
believed to have made a magnificent history for the Chinese people, are no
others than the very ancestors of our Hakka people. While our forefathers
were disseminating the Chung-Yuen culture southward, they advanced waves upon
waves to fight back northward to drive out the foreign invaders, leaving
many many names down in the annals of our long, great history.  Some
notable Hakka scholars and politicians familiar to all of us include
<i> Zhu Xi (朱熹), Yuan Chonghuan (袁崇焕),
<a href="./sun.html">Sun Yat-Sen (孙中山)</a>, Song
Chin-Lin(宋庆龄), Liao Chong-Kai(廖仲凯),
<a href="http://www.pathfinder.com/@@6NnjTgUAtM1eDYGp/Asiaweek/95/20greats/deng.
Deng Xiao-Ping(邓小平)</a>, Hu Yao-Bang(胡耀邦), Zhu De(朱德), Ye
Jian-Ying(叶剑英), Ye Ting (叶挺),  Lee Teng-Hui (李登辉) </i>(Taiwan),  <i> <a
href="http://www.pathfinder.com/@@6NnjTgUAtM1eDYGp/Asiaweek/95/20greats/lky.html
Lee Kuan-Yew (李光耀)</a></i>(Singapore), and so forth.
<p>

Hakka people have their own language, a classic Chinese which can be traced
back at least to Tang Dynasty, 1300 years ago. We keep the classic Chinese
well preserved because we "<i>would rather sell our land than sell our
language</i> (宁卖祖宗田,不卖祖宗言)". Comparing the classic Chinese with the mo
find how large the lacuna in word choices between Hakka and the present
northern dialects which are full of Mongolian, Manchurian and other languages,
and how uncouth the Madarin is. Phonetically Hakka has much more initial
consonants than Madarin, and many many of those confused characters
sharing the same pronunciation in Madarin turn out to be distinct in
Hakka. Besides, Hakka has five tones, of which the "Ru Sheng" (入声, the 5th
one) disappeared completely in all the northern dialects. This is why the
so-called "poets" today always make excuses such as "intuition inhibition" to
avoid learning this fifth tone and dissemble their ignorance and stupidity
on rhythmatics (格律),the basis of Chinese poetry which turns out to be
natural in our language.
<p>

At this point, one should have understood what the essence of Hakka culture is.
It is by no means
the castle-like houses (Wei Long Wu; or Wei Leung Wu in Hakka), nor the Moi-Yan
(广东梅县, Mei-Xian County in Guang Dong Province) mountain folk songs, but the
language and accordingly the polished styles of communication, both
in writing and speaking. Our fathers have eventually overthrown the cruel rules
of minorities and foreigners. But culturally they are still ruling our
nation! Our language is degenerating!  Considering the thousand-year-long
efforts of our ancestors, we are therefore entrusted by history the task
of kicking out the dross from our culture and purifying our languages.
<p>

But, the stereotype formed thousands of years ago that "guests" should
follow the "host" makes Hakka politicians yield to the local "Bai Hua"
(白话, Vernacular) and avoid (or even forget) Hakka on public occasions: Sun Yat
was fond of Cantonese, Deng Xiao-Ping always used Southwesternian, and Lee
Teng-Hui doesn't speak Hakka, either. This is absolutely wrong. Aside from
the fact that the stereotype "tradition" is not applicable in a such a
national culture, we have settled in the south for thousands of years and
have long been in the position of "hosts". So what's the shame of using our
real and orthodox Chinese? If we are not even confident of our own language,
then we can never achieve our goal to save Chinese languages of long standing
from degenerating. In a sense, to rebuild our self-confidence is the
starting point and key step to revive our great Zhongyuan (Chungyuen)
culture.
<p>

So, as a Hakka member, one should
<ul>
<li>Speak Hakka,
<li>Use Hakka,
<li>And, be proud of a Hakka.
</ul>

<p>
Hakka folks: Our language is the only orthodox Chinese (中华正音)!
We should no longer be Ha, and we are no longer Ha! <p>

这些有争议的,无客家意识的没有必要乱发,understand?

要发就发些有意义的,对客家有贡献的,这才是实事求是。
