全球視野下的客家與地方社會：第一屆台灣客家研究國際研討會

會議宗旨：
為提升台灣客家研究在國際客家社群中的地位，促進國際客家研究成果的知識分享，確立「台灣客家學」在人文社會科學領域中的地位，特舉行「2006年第一屆台灣客家研究國際研討會」，會議主題為：「全球視野下的客家與地方社會」，希望邀請世界各國從事客家研究卓著聲望的學者前來與會，發表論文，以提升台灣在國際客家研究社群中之能見度與學術水準。
會議主題主旨為：世界各地的客家與地方社會，經由長期的互動，究竟呈現何種特殊樣貌？在產業、語言、家族、通婚、藝術、政治、宗教、信仰或族群關係產生那些值得深入探討的議題？客家族群如何與地方社會中的其他族群發生互動，從而維持其特色？客家社群在該地方社會中的角色與地位為何？其發展前景為何？
會議擬於10月29—30日舉行，會議語言為英語、客語與華語。會議當天除印製會議論文外，部份稿件將刊載於客家研究期刊，部份稿件則將出版專書。
稿件投寄注意事項：
歡迎學者專家投稿，本會將組成公正客觀之評審委員會進行審查。文稿以未曾發表於其他會議或刊物者為限，每篇論文字數，中文以一萬字至一萬五千字，英文則最多不超過8000字，應按照學術規格撰寫（建議參照「客家研究期刊」撰稿範例，請上網：http://hakka.ncu.edu.tw/hakka/#），文責由作者個人自負，並簽署同意出版之書面函。
凡欲投稿者一律採網路報名，請於2006年5月31日前將作者簡介、聯絡方式、論文題目、中英文摘要（五百至一千字），逕寄：abies@ncu.edu.tw.

Hakka and Local Societies in Global Perspectives:
The First International Conference on Hakka Studies in Taiwan

Background
The International Conference on Hakka Studies in Taiwan, 2006 will take place at National Central University, Jhongli City, Tao-yuan, Taiwan. The 2006 Conference is organized by the College of Hakka Studies, National Central University.
The conference will provide a forum for members of international Hakka studies community who are interested in sharing observations on interaction between Hakka and local societies in global perspectives. The theme of this year is “Hakka and Local Societies in Global Perspectives.” The conference welcomes scholars, experts, legislators, government officials, leaders of Nonprofit organizations and community, and others from all over the world to explore the following issues: (1)how Hakka continues their culture and how they interacts with local societies; (2) what is the picture of Hakka societies in the aspect of economics, politics, linguistics, culture, religion, belief, marriage , or ethnic relationship? (3) What are the similarities and differences of Hakka culture and societies in any country you are interested in. Prospective authors are encouraged to study any areas covered all ethnic issues based upon history, anthropology, linguistics, sociology, mass media, culture, religion, politics, policy, and management.
All submitted papers will be evaluated under peer review process. Accepted papers will be published in the conference proceeding. Some of the accepted papers will be considered for publication in the special issues of the Journal of Hakka Studies. Some participants may also be invited to submit extended version of their conference papers for considering as book chapters.
Submission:
Prospective authors are invited to submit their draft paper in abstract format (one page, 500-1000 words) or in full paper format to abies@ncu.edu.tw. by May 31, 2006. The submitted file can be in MS Word format, PS format, or PDF formats.
The first page of the draft paper should include:
Title of the paper;
Name, affiliation and e-mail address for each author;
A maximum of 5 keywords of the paper;
Important Dates:
Date for abstract submissions: May 31, 2006
Date for notification of acceptance: June. 10-15, 2006
Date for Camera-Ready paper submissions: September 30, 2006
