Great blessings! My book, FINDING SAMUEL LOWE, has been translated to Chinese and is being released in China on Friday 11/18 with a big media event at the Shenzhen Library.

My first cousin, Luo Minjun, along with me and three other authors will have our books released simultaneously by Shenzhen Publishing -- first time ever such a large book release has occurred in Shenzhen, city of 30+ million people and where our ancestral village, Lowe Swee Hap, is located.

Both books honor our Grandfather Lowe Ding Chow, whose Western name was Samuel Lowe. Our grandfather is pictured here. My brothers, Howard Williams, left, Elrick Williams, and our first cousin Luo Minjun, who authored the blue book. Mine is the red book.
And most importantly, our mother Nell Lowe Williams, who inspires us each and every day.

出生於牙買加，9 歲移居加拿大多倫多，祖先為中國廣東東莞客家人。現為獨立製片人和導演。自小在牙買加京斯敦華人雜貨店生活的童年回憶，促使她拍攝《華人雜貨店》（The Chiney Shop，2012）及《半》 （Half: The Story of a Chinese-Jamaican Son，2013），紀錄華人在以黑人為主的牙買加的生活及對當地社會文化的影響。2014 年歷時一年拍攝完成作品《尋找羅定朝》。

Born in Jamaica to Hakka Chinese parents, Jeanette Kong’s work to date has centered on the Caribbean Chinese diaspora. Her documentary films “The Chiney Shop” and ”Half: The Story of a Chinese-Jamaican Son” have screened at several international film festivals and museums including the Trinidad & Tobago Film Festival, the Chinese-American Museum of Chicago, the Art Gallery of Mississauga and the Penn Museum in Philadelphia. They were also chosen to commemorate the 160th Anniversary of the arrival of the Chinese to Jamaica at the Institute of Jamaica. Now a resident and citizen of Canada, Jeannette has more than 17 years of media experience in Canadian television and as an independent producer and director.

為了拼湊家族歷史的碎片，而展開一趟橫跨美國、加拿大、牙買加、香港和中國的尋親之旅。正步入花甲之年的葆拉．麥迪遜（羅笑娜），事業家庭富足美滿，人生應了無遺憾，卻始終有個渴望在心中不斷發芽。母親去世前留下了一個謎團——1933 年，一個謎樣的中國男人羅定朝，從牙買加搭船去香港，永別他的牙買加情人與兩個混血孩子，他是葆拉的親生祖父。在近一個世紀的分離後，葆拉決定不顧地域與膚色的差異，與兩位哥哥尋找家族記憶中從未謀面的另一半「家人」。在歷史的洪流中，客家人的遷徙流離，堅韌的民族性，大時代下顛沛流離的親情與遺憾，在此片中從泛黃照片出現的兩父女——羅定朝及羅碧珊身上，完整呈現出來。

Three successful African-Americans discover an unknown part of their heritage by searching for clues about their long-lost Chinese grandfather, Samuel Lowe.

Retired NBC Universal executive Paula Williams Madison and her brothers, Elrick and Howard Williams, were raised in Harlem, New York, by their Chinese Jamaican mother, Nell Vera Lowe. To fulfill a promise to their mother to connect with her estranged father's people, they embark on a journey to uncover their ancestral roots.

Paula, Elrick and Howard travel to a Hakka Chinese conference in Toronto, where they meet members of the Chinese Jamaican community and learn more about their grandfather. After that, the siblings and 16 of their family members wind up traveling to Shenzhen and Guangzhou to visit their family’s ancestral village, a bookend to a story above familial love and devotion that transcends race, space and time.
