Third concubine lane (third mistress) is another name .Long ago when kerosene lamp was used to light up the lane. A guy needed to climb up to light-up the kerosene lamp.
This lane is also known as Market Lane as official name. Many Chinese shops were opened in this lane besides the other two main streets, Market Street and Hugh Low Street. These are the business district of Ipoh when the town was established. Tin mining was the main activities around 150 years ago. Later, rubber plantation and the processing of it was popular too. Then came the Cantonese for all sorts of business and market activities and Cantonese became the main dialect of Ipoh.

三姨太巷（第三情妇）是另外一个名字。很久以前，当煤油灯被用来照亮巷。一个家伙需要爬上去点亮煤油灯。
这条巷子里也被称为市场里。许多中国商店在这条胡同里开，除了另外两个主要街道，市场街和休低街。这些都是建立怡保镇时的商业区。锡矿开采大约150年前的主要活动。后来，橡胶种植园和它的处理受欢迎。随后赶来的广东话各种业务和市场活动-广东话成为怡保的主要方言。
